Album
Martina Topley-Bird's Some Place Simple follows the release of her dynamite 2008 Danger Mouse-produced Blue God full-length by two years. That said, this set wasn't planned. Some Place Simple is driven by minimal instrumentation on each of its 15 tracks. Other than her melodies, her approach is unique, even riveting. One need go no further than the album's opening cut, Baby Blue, which uses a ukulele and a keyboard imitating a glockenspiel to illuminate her vocals. Текст песни: Tell you, baby Ive been waiting For so long I want it Place Simple is the third studio album by British vocalist and songwriter Martina Topley-Bird. Recorded between 2008 and 2010, the album consists of eleven stripped-down versions of previous songs, and four new ones composed for the record. The album features contributions from Brian Burton, David Holmes, Chloe Paige, and Josh Klinghoffer. All tracks are written by Martina Topley-Bird. Martina Topley-Bird - vocals, guitar. Claire Nicholson - guitar, background vocals. Brian Burton - production. Album 2010 15 Songs. Some Place Simple Martina Topley-Bird. think this version sounds more powerful and devastating because it relies primarily on her hypnotising voice. Текст песни: Wasnt gonna miss him I miss him now Built a fire Like I was Place Simple, 2010. Martina Topley-Bird. Baby Blue, 02:47. Phoenix, 02:45. Lying, 03:49. Da Da Da, 01:20. Orchids, 02:59. Snowman, 02:39. For her Honest Jons debut, Martina Topley Bird revisits songs from her previous two albums, Quixotic and The Blue God, a particularly welcome move in the latter case, where her character seemed to be lost amongst the Danger Mouse productions. Here, the opening Baby Blue exemplifies the less-is-more approach employed, with ukulele, glockenspiel and tambourine allowing the haunting simplicity of the vocal melody to captivate the listener. Martina Topley Bird's third solo album came about after Damon Albarn encouraged her to record simplified new versions of songs from her first two records, Quixotic, and the Danger Mouse-produced The Blue God. While the originals were hardly drowning in excessive production, Topley Bird has pared them back further still, removing nearly all the flesh from their bones and leaving just the melody lines, her airy voice and jolts of electric piano, drum machine and tambourine. Many of the reinventions are wholly stunning. Listen free to Martina Topley-Bird Some Place Simple Baby Blue, Phoenix and more. 15 tracks 37:50
