The actual debut album of Master, titled simply Master, was recorded twice first with Mittelbrun on guitars and Schmidt on drums. This recording was not accepted by the record company Nuclear Blast. Hence it was re-recorded with Nickeas drums and Martinelli guitar, which was eventually released as the Speckmann Project in 1991. The First recording was released under the name Master in 1989. In 1991, the second album was released: On the Seventh Day God Created Master, featuring Paul Masvidal on lead guitar, followed by the Collection of Souls in 1993 both on Nuclear Blast. Thereafter th. Master is an American death metal band led by Paul Speckmann. The band was originally formed in Chicago, United States, but later relocated to the Czech Republic. The band was originally formed in 1983 as Death Strike, after the demise of the band War Cry. The band's sound was influenced by Venom, Slayer and Motörhead. In 1985, Speckmann renamed the band Master, and obtained a record deal with Combat Records. An album was recorded, but was shelved due to issues with the label. The recording sessions. Master really never has been recognized as the world class innovators they truely are, but many bands have mentioned them as a huge influence. The funny things is that most music in the death metal genre resembles Masters classic work. We as fans, as well as the other bands owe a lot of respect to Paul and Master and what he helped to create. It is hard to put its greatness into words, this album just has an unexplainable unique atmosphere, not present on most death metal albums released since.
