I've been a Melody Gardot fan since her first album came out. This particular album does take a different direction compared to her earlier albums which are more of smooth jazz. The songs on Currency of Man have a bit more beat to them. So if you have been a Melody Gardot fan for a while, you may miss the more jazzy feel of previous albums. She has been nominated for a Grammy Award. At the age of 19, Gardot was involved in a bicycle accident and sustained a head injury. Music played a critical role in her recovery.
