Return To Grimpen Ward was released back in 2001 as a remix best-of retrospective spanning the group's first decade of electro industrial warfare. Cult industrial music pioneers MENTALLO & THE FIXER are now reissuing their back-catalogue, fully remastered by Gary Dassing himself, on all digital platforms together with their Alfa Matrix label, including the releases by their several other electronic-based projects. For the occasion, a new cover artwork has also been designed for each new rerelease. Listen free to Mentallo & The Fixer Return To Grimpen Ward Sacrilege, Legion Of Lepers and more. 14 tracks 79:07. Re-arranged, re-recorded, & re-mixed classic M&TF tracks. Learn more. Recent Listening Trend. Mentallo and the Fixer sometimes written as Mentallo & the Fixer is the project name used by Texan electro-industrial musicians Gary Dassing Mentallo and Dwayne Dassing The Fixer from 1988 to 1999, and by Gary Dassing alone from 1999 to the present day. The band has several releases on the American record label, Metropolis Records. They are named after two Marvel Comics characters. Return to Grimpen Ward is a remix retrospective spanning the group's ten-year career. The level of re-composition here makes this more than a best-of, but indeed an album of fresh material in the Mentallo discography. The Texan brothers behind this duo started as rock musicians, but were later influenced by new wave. This gives their brand of industrial music a tough rock consciousness, especially in the drum programming. Return to Grimpen Ward is heavy, ominous beat music akin to Nine Inch Nails with a reach back to New Order. More by Mentallo & the Fixer. Music from the Eather. Until the Blood Flows Freely. It is very nearly a pure elektro album, with only a teensy bit of acoustic guitar on Tachyon. Mentallo and the Fixer's newest album hearkens back to the industrial music of the mid- to late-1980s. It is derivative, like so much industrial, of Skinny Puppy with its treated vocals, heavy use of sampling, and syncopated sequencing layered over minor chords. Occasionally, a dark glimmer of harshness surfaces, evocative of such early industrial noise bands as In Sotto Voce. Samples abound, especially the ones from Blade Runner
