Michael Hoenig was supported on guitars by two former band mates from Agitation Free - Lutz Ulbrich and Micki Duwe. The latter wrote and played the lead harmonies on the track Sun And Moon, while Lutz Lüül Ulbrich played on the title track. The voices on Voices Of Where were from the Northern Wasteland is the debut studio album of electronic music composer Michael Hoenig, released in 1978 by Warner Bros. All music is composed by Michael Hoenig except for Sun & Moon by Michael Hoenig & Mickie D. Adapted from the Departure from the Northern Wasteland liner notes. Departure from the Northern Wasteland , a classic of the progressive electronic genre, contains four pieces that are almost perfect in their realization of the sequencer as a compositional tool. Hoenig took the concept of repetitive music further than most anyone in his homeland and claimed his inspiration was drawn from American minimalist composers Philip Glass , Steve Reich , and Terry Riley.
