From a Radio Engine to the Photon Wing was released in 1977 and is the ninth album by Michael Nesmith and eighth studio album as a singersongwriter during his post-Monkees career. The album was Nesmith's second with vocals released on his own label, Pacific Arts. The song, Love's First Kiss, is rare example of Nesmith collaborating with other songwriters to compose a song. This cryptically titled disc seamlessly takes Michael Nesmith from his firmly established southwestern Americana roots and into a much more pop-oriented setting, without compromising his signature laid-back delivery. The disc was cut in Nashville at the height of the disco era. As such, there are a few slightly rhythm-heavy tracks - including the album's signature piece and leadoff track Rio and Love's First Kiss. Album 1976 8 Songs. The rest of the album is a musical journey that you wouldn't expect from a former member of a teen idol made-for-TV band. I wish I knew the best way to describe the music of Michael Nesmith to the novice. The best I can put to it,at least with this album would be a soft country-rock sound with strong elemements of singer-songwriter pop and some R&B,pop-jazz and some nice funky bass on top of that.
