This is the most comprehensive collection of Mils Davis' Columbia recordings I'd ever found, and I bought all or most of the smaller box sets around specific points in his recording tenure with the label. I bought this just to have it all in one with those final albums. The mastering and care on this set is amazing, and I couldn't be happier. If you're an ultimate Miles Davis fan and you enjoy owning the physical media, this will not prove to be overkill. It will help fill in the blanks, and there is even a nice video presentation of a Miles Davis performance. Ultimately, the packaging of The Complete Miles Davis also, perhaps, represents some sort of swansong for the dying age of real-stuff-in-a-real-box productions. In the future, when they just sell you the memory stick or the downloads, we'll look back at this lavish 70-decker and sigh. More about .
