Miranda Sex Garden were a music group from London, England. They were active from 1990 to 2000. Formed in 1990, Katharine Blake, Kelly McCusker and Jocelyn West were originally a trio of madrigal singers. They were educated at The Purcell School for Young Musicians in Bushey. They were discovered by Barry Adamson when they were singing madrigals on Portobello Road in London. He invited them to sing on his Delusion soundtrack, with the song Il Solitario. Following a six-year hiatus, Miranda Sex Garden released their final album, Carnival of Souls, in 2000. Like Suspiria, it takes its name from a classic horror film Carnival of Souls, a 1962 film starring Candace Hilligloss and directed by Herk Harvey. Track listing. Are You the One . This wonderful story cannot stop here. But for me there is one sure thing: whether they come back or not I, at least, will always have a very special place for them in my memory. Carnival of Souls carries only a light fragrance of the first entirely madrigal album, but the overpowering style is more of their merge into a jazzy, industrialgoth you can even classify it. Carnival of Souls is a fitting name for the album, as we have moments of feeling like we're travelling through a maze of mirrors or being thrust about some sort of sinister ride. Miranda Sex Garden then reformed with some new members and released their last album, the aptly named Carnival of Souls , featuring the bands swan song Without Trace. The band also contributed a song to a Radiohead tribute entitled Exit music for a film. After this the Mediæval Bæbes took over as Katharines main concern, and MSG fell into a slumber. In 2006 Ben Golomstock released a solo album under the name Stories From The Moon which featured members of Miranda Sex Garden, Mediaeval Baebes, Queen Adreena, Colt, etc. which highly reprized the traditional MSG sound.
