Trailer 5. Mono & world's end girlfriend. Palmless Prayer, Mass Murder Refrain is a collaborative studio album by Mono and World's End Girlfriend. It was originally released via Human Highway Records on 14 December 2005. In 2006, it was re-released via Temporary Residence Limited. Ian Mathers of Stylus Magazine gave the album a grade of A, writing, I'd say this is one of the finest 'imaginary soundtracks' ever released if I could just think of a film that wouldn't seem hideously overpowered by it. Mono & world's end girlfriend - Trailer 5 Just before recording their epic disasterpiece You Are There, MONO began collaborating with fellow Tokyo native and modern electronic composer worlds end girlfriend. As dark as the bottom of the ocean, and nearly as otherworldly, Palmless PrayerMass Murder Refrain finds MONO inhabiting an illuminated world previously only. What the hell In April 2006, Mono released their instrumental opus You Are There on Temporary Residence and they toured the world in support of it. In September of the same year Palmless PrayerMass Murder Refrain is issued as a collaborative album with World's End Girlfriend aka Katsushiko Maeda, the underground Japanese producer, mixologist, and multi-instrumentalist. On this collaboration they are joined by Katsuhiko Maeda, who releases under many names, most notable of them, World's End Girlfriend with excellent albums on Midi Creative, Noble. Maeda's sound is an unclassifiable potpourri of modern classical, experimental post-rock with a touch of electronic glitch, and he has also numerously appeared on my rotations. It's a collaboration between Mono, Japan's foremost purveyors of heartbreaking, eardrum-shattering instrumental post-rock, and World's End Girlfriend, a Japanese musical project with which I am, aside from this album, completely unfamiliar. Palmless Prayer, Mass Murder Refrain is a single, patient, transcendent, deeply sorrowful piece of music. Across five tracks and an hour and fourteen minutes, layered cellos, wordless female vocals, piano, chiming guitars, and cymbal washes build and recede, at times coalescing into huge, distortion-filled payoffs. So, a lot like Mono, but w. The collaborative effort between Worlds End Girlfriend and Mono is one such album. However, Palmless PrayerMass Murder Refrain should not have the effect on me that it does. The picture it depicts is bleak-downright depressing the lurid blacks and grays coalesce into a despondent and hopeless scene. Its beautiful, however, in that it so seamlessly creates this feeling, despite how ugly and dreary it truly is. Palmless PrayerMass Murder Refrain achieves this because of the emotive songwriting contained within as both acts clearly had the same goal. At its heart lies a strict, yet.
