Notes
This version comes in laminated gatefold cover and wears the labeldesign with the boxed Bellaphon on top. It misses the wording "Made in Germany by Bellaphon-Records" on top-rim and that makes it a slightly earlier reissue than this one: Nektar - Journey To The Centre Of The Eye.
Due to the lacked labelcode, this was release around the mid 70s.
Recorded June - August 1971 in Cologne-Stommeln.

Album
Journey to the Centre of the Eye is the debut album from English progressive rock band Nektar that came out in November 1971. Though formally divided into 13 tracks, the entire album consists of a single continuous piece of music, with some musical themes which are repeated throughout the work. Because of its narrative nature, it has been called a rock opera andor dense concept album. The story follows an astronaut who, while on a voyage to Saturn, encounters aliens who take him to their galaxy. Nektar's debut album was one of their finest releases, saturated with abstract psychedelia and a wonderful science-fiction motif that is magnified through the rigorous but dazzling Mellotron of Allan Freeman and Roye Albrighton's nomadic guitar playing. Throughout Journey's 13 cuts, Nektar introduced their own sort of instrumental surrealism that radiated from both the vocals and from the intermingling of the haphazard drum and string work. Void of Vision. Pupil of the Eye. More By Nektar. A Spoonful of Time. Only for completionists 1. Enter NEKTAR to keep the late-60s space rock dream alive and put their own minimalistic style into it. There are plenty of harder rocking moments, ranging from the CREAM-like sections in Astronauts Nightmares to the funky, early- DEEP PURPLE sound of organ and wah guitar jamming in Pupil of the Eye. It's a concept album - about a trip into an eye: inner space hallucinogenic or just surreal imagination Being mostly instrumental it's not the easiest 'story' to get. The album has a concept, and all the songs floats into each other. Theres not much meaning in pointing out highlights, cause this is one of those albums that works best in its entirety.
