He left the group early on but was heavily involved in their seminal 1987 debut Scum, and also worked on fellow former Napalmer Mick Harris's Scorn project in the early '90s. Bullen's debut solo album comprises two electronic experiments inspired by the primitive technology and tape manipulation techniques of the '60s. Although he decided to call it a day before the band slipped into the mainstream circuit, his sonic fingerprints were all over their influential debut Scum, and he's been breaking boundaries ever since. Over thirty years later we arrive to 'Component Fixations', an album that Bullen has been contemplating, working and reworking for some time. Taking influence from the early electronic artists of the 1960s Bullen has fused this passion with his own musically explorative past, resulting in an album of beguiling tape-manipulations, drones and noise. Component Fixations will offer tape manipulations, drones and noise spread over three long-form tracks. The album promises a synthesis of Bullens influences, with a particular emphasis on the electronic pioneers of the 1960s. Nicholas Bullen born 1968 in Coventry, England is an English composer, artist and writer. The duo had collaborated on fanzines and played together in a number of 'bedroom' bands from 1980 onwards and formed the first line-up of Napalm Death in May 1981 when Bullen and Ratledge were 13 and 14 years old respectively.
