Recorded live in Abbey Road Studios July 28, 2005
Album
Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road, recorded on 28 July 2005, was a live concert given by Paul McCartney at Abbey Road Studios, specifically Studio 2, where many of The Beatles' recordings were made. Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road was meant as a promotion for McCartney's album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard. As the audience was of close friends and selected fans, the concert was intimate in nature and was littered with monologues and song fragments. It was shown on BBC Two in the United Kingdom on. Paul McCartney's special show Chaos and Creation At Abbey Road. Sir Paul is an elder statesman now, but Chaos and Creation in the Backyard finds him in considered and tastefully restrained form, penning songs worthy of his finest hour. McCartney crafts this collection of songs with exquisite balance, lining up haunting chimes and heartfelt lyrics Riding to Vanity Fair alongside pounding Hey Bulldog-esque chords and eerily Beatles-ish multitracked vocals Promise to You Girl, Fine Line and, most impressively, distinctively new yet timeless gems of songcraft Anyway, Jenny Wren. We are reminded of his contributions to 'Abbey Road' here. This C. shows Paul as still an expert. There is little to criticize. In the United States, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard debuted at the number-six on the Billboard 200 with sales of 91,545 copies. It stayed on chart for a total of 21 weeks, selling over 530,000 copies up to 2007. Quiet though it may be, Paul McCartney experienced something of a late-career renaissance with the release of his 1997 album Flaming Pie. With that record, he shook off years of coyness and half-baked ideas and delivered an album that, for whatever its slight flaws, was both ambitious and cohesive, and it started a streak that continued through the driving rock & roll album Run Devil Run and its 2001 follow-up, Driving Rain. The premise of Paul McCartney working with Nigel Godrich was clear from the start. McCartney wanted a producer who appreciated his storied past but at the same time believed that, at sixty-three, he has a vital future. Its an approach that recalls McCartney, the homemade 1970 release that launched the singers post-Beatles career. And as on that record, the tingling sense of a new beginning is palpable.
