Peter Cetera, released in September 1981, is the self-titled first solo release by American musician Peter Cetera, released while he was the bassist and lead vocalist of the band Chicago. A much more rock-oriented album than the disco-influenced music Chicago had been producing at the time, Cetera released the album in September 1981 while still a member of the band. Released on Full Moon Records, a subsidiary of Warner Brothers reissued in 2004 on Wounded Bird Records, the album was not. You Just Gotta Love Christmas. Peter Cetera. His 1981 album Peter Cetera featured his great rocker, Livin' In the Limelight. Cetera became the Man in 1982. The Chicago 16 sessions added keyboardist-guitarist-vocalist Bill Champlin and producer David Foster, but Cetera made the most of the opportunity, penning a funked-up rocker Bad Advice, and the monster hit Hard to Say I'm Sorry. He'd quit smoking and drugs, lost weight, and began paying attention to his looks. Cetera says that he wanted to do a Phil CollinsGenesis-type deal, and the others wouldn't have it others, like James Pankow, say Cetera wanted 50 of the cut, and top-billing Peter Cetera and Chicago, and they wouldn't have it. Peter Cetera released this album around 1980 when Chicago was not doing well. It has some good rock songs with a country rock feel. Obviously, Cetera wrote these songs from his heart. It is far better than most of the ballad tripe he put out later on. The album also uses some brass and nice piano lines. This album is much better than anything Cetera has done since. Cetera should write what he wants to write and record and not listen to the studio execs who keep wanting all the repetitive sounding ballads Read more
