Sour Times is a song by English trip hop group Portishead, from their debut album Dummy. It was written by all three members of the band. It was released by Go Beat Records in 1994 as a CD single, accompanied by three bonus tracks: It's a Fire, Pedestal, and Theme from 'To Kill a Dead Man'. The song uses a sample from Argentine composer Lalo Schifrin's Danube Incident, from the 1967 album More Mission: Impossible. Portishead speeded up the sample to a desired tempo which took Schifrin's. Portishead may not have invented trip-hop, but they were among the first to popularize it, particularly in America. Taking their cue from the slow, the video for Sour Times from Portishead's Dummy for free, and see the artwork, lyrics and similar artists. Sour Times isn't exactly the feature single from Portishead's first album, Dummy, but it might as well be. It's the one whose video samples scenes from their short film To Kill a Dead Man, whose images also make up the cover for the Dummy album. Let's start with To Kill A Dead Man. It's a short film included on the bonus section of the 2002 DVD version of Portishead's Roseland NYC Live. The original 1994 release initially reached only number 57 in the UK, but after the success of Glory Box in 1995, it was re-released and peaked at number 13 on the UK singles chart in April.
