A Moon Shaped Pool is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead. It was released digitally on 8 May 2016, with CD and vinyl releases in June 2016 through XL Recordings. Radiohead recorded A Moon Shaped Pool in southern France with longtime producer Nigel Godrich. It features strings and choral vocals arranged by guitarist Jonny Greenwood and performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra. Several songs, such as True Love Waits and Burn the Witch, were written years earlier. Live performances of the eleven songs featured on Radiohead's 9th album, A Moon Shaped Pool, recorded on a tour of Europe in 2016. Intro: 00:00 Burn Moon Shaped Pool. Radiohead give us one of their most musically and emotionally arresting albums, full of low-flying panic attacks and gorgeous orchestration. If Radiohead have made the dehumanizing effects of technology their great theme, A Moon Shaped Pool is the first record in which, musically, they kick their way out of the machine, or at least make their cyborg soul more vestigial. Where Kid A and Amnesiac were defined by electronic music vernacular, this record is defined by its orchestral arrangements. Rumours of Radioheads much anticipated ninth album nicknamed LP9 by fans began as early as mid to late 2015. In late April 2016, the band began teasing new material via a cryptic internet and social media campaign. On May 3, the band released the first single and music video, Burn The Witch. Three days later, the band released the second single, Daydreaming accompanied by a music video directed by acclaimed filmmaker and Jonny Greenwood collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson. The entire album was released as a digital download on May 8, 2016. It revisits recording. Radiohead, who titled their ninth studio album A Moon Shaped Pool, have a unique grasp on how easily profundity can slip into banality. Their music is obsessed with the point where great truths harden into platitudes, where pure signal meets wretched noise. In the past, Thom Yorke has sharply peppered his lyrics with everyday cliches to suggest a mind consumed by meaningless data, but on the new album, he largely moves beyond cynicism. This goes beyond me, beyond you, he sings on Daydreaming. Radiohead A Moon Shaped Pool. On their ninth studio album, Thom Yorke and co. release old favorites under a somber light. by Nina Corcoran. on May 11, 2016, 12:02am. Of all the potential titles circulated during the wait for Radioheads ninth album - Dawn Chorus, Burn the Witch, Silent Spring - A Moon Shaped Pool comes as a petty disappointment. It reads like a typical Thom Yorke tweet about global warming and how rising sea levels will turn our planet into an amorphous blob of water held together by gravity
