Although Ramases' debut album is best known today for featuring the infant 10cc as accompanying musicians the 1990 Repertoire reissue even flags their involvement on the front cover, it is, in fact, deserving of considerably more attention than even that merits. Ramases, born Kimberley Barrington Frost 1 January 1934 2 December 1976, was a British psychedelic musician who released two cult albums in the early 1970s. Barrington Frost was, anecdotally, born sometime between 1935 and 1940 in Sheffield, UK, although the Sheffield City birth records indicate that his birth date was 111934. He was the only child of musical parents his mother played piano to silent movies in the local theatre, and his father was a tenor and grew up singing and playing. Despite the album cover by famed fantasy artist Roger Dean Yes, few ever heard the musical word of Ramases - as Frost took to calling himself. Most of those who did found the album remarkable. Looking back, Space Hymns serves as one bridge between the folk-tinged psychedelia of the 1960s and the space rockprog rock of the 1970s.
