These recordings, made in Vienna's famous Sofiensaal in 1962 and 1965, had escaped my attention until now. Both have been re-mastered in 96 kHz and 24 bits and both have the identical chamber version of the Siegfried Idyll with the VPO. Both offer the Tannhauser and Flying Dutchman overtures but this substitutes the Rienzi for the Mastersingers and includes the Tannhauser Bacchanale as a separate piece not the compilation with the shortened overture instead of a pair of overtures by Berlioz and Beethoven.
