The EP peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as number 32 on the Independent Albums chart. Scott Hreha of Pitchfork praised The Horror as a solid reiteration of Rj's remarkable talent. Until recently, he was part of the Definitive Jux label and produced tracks for many of its artists, as well as having a solo career.
