Album
Blue Lights in the Basement is the sixth studio album by American singer Roberta Flack released by Atlantic on December 13, 1977. The album was a commercial success, peaking at number eight on the US Billboard 200, becoming her third consecutive top-ten album on the chart and reaching number five on the R&B albums chart. On February 27, 1978, the album received a Gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America RIAA for shipments over 500,000 copies. Songs in album Blue Lights In The Basement 1977. Roberta Flack - Why Don't You Move In With Me. Donny Hathaway Flack - The Closer I Get To You. Roberta Flack - Fine, Fine Day. Roberta Flack - This Time I'll Be Sweeter. Roberta Flack - 25th Of Last December. Roberta Flack - After You. Roberta Flack - I'd Like To Be Baby To You. Released in 1977, Blue Lights in the Basement is Roberta Flack's follow-up to 1975's Feel Like Makin' Love. Of course during the space between the two efforts, R&B and pop had certainly changed immensely. This album finds Flack responding to the changing times with a batch of smooth tracks and a polished and accomplished production. Of course by this time, she seemed to be divorced from the intelligent and recondite work that typified the early part of her career. Some of the tracks here do come close to that style 25th of Last December and Love Is the Hea. Roberta Flack Format: Audio CD. Roberta Flack's voice is one of the treasures of black music. She blends folk, jazz, and R&B into a lovely sound that melds sophistication and soul. In many ways, Roberta Flack has had the same predicament that Nina Simone and other R&B artists have had. She can sing jazz and has some piano ability and crafts songs. Yet Simone and Flack went down the opposite paths. And back to the album, this is a must for anyone who cherishes Flack's lush interpretations and consistently smooth products.
