Album

The Beginner's Guide to Throwing Shapes is the eighth studio album by Saga, originally released in 1989. It is also the second album recorded by the band without longtime drummer Steve Negus and keyboardist Jim Gilmour, who temporarily left the band over management concerns. All music is composed by Michael Sadler, Jim Crichton and Ian Crichton. Michael Sadler: Vocals & Keyboards. Jim Crichton: Bass, Keyboards and Synthaxe. Ian Crichton: Guitars, Synthaxe & Banjo. Curt Cress: Drums and Percussion. The Beginner's Guide to Throwing Shapes - Saga. Try it I could compare A Beginner's Guide To Throwing Shapes to another band's album known to other , let's just say this is Saga's Stationary Travelleras per CAMEL. Review by b olariu PROG REVIEWER. With The Beginner's Guide To Throwing Shapes, however, Saga finally broke out of their downward spiral and started to make interesting and good music again. Some key members had been lost, having reduced Saga to a trio around this time. Everything I enjoy about Saga is present here: Ian's monstrous guitar riffs, unison guitarkeyboard runs, Sadler's soaring vocal melodies, and lyrics that go way beyond your typical love song. Perhaps not Saga's absolute best, The Beginners Guide to Throwing Shapes is still a solid four-star album from beginning to end. Remaster notes: in 2003, the album curiously was remastered by drummer Steve Negus curious in the sense that he did not drum on this album. The sound is great.
