Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time, referred to as simply Guitar Heaven, is the twenty-first studio album by Santana, released on September 21, 2010. It is a classic rock covers album and features guest performances by several popular vocalists, including , Joe Cocker, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden & Audioslave, Scott Stapp of Creed and Art of Anarchy, Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver and Art of Anarchy, Chris Daughtry of Daughtry, Jacoby Shaddix of. Alternative Rock Psychedelic Rock Blues Rock. Songs in album Santana - Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time 2010. Santana - Whole Lotta Love feat. Santana - While My Guitar Gently Weeps feat. Yo-Yo Ma. Carlos Santana is one of the great rock guitarists and he has a jazzy interpretative bent, cutting duet albums with no less of a heavy hitter as John McLaughlin back in the 70s. It goes without saying that those were different times and that the Santana of 2010 is not the Santana of 1972, although hes remarkably close to the Santana of 1999, the one who gave himself over to Clive Davis for a shot at chart success. Total playing time: 64'00. Unofficial release packaged in a jewel case with transparent tray, includes 12 page booklet. No Mould SID code on the matrix. Although some info about DVD is printed on the back side of the tray card, there's no DVD in this release. Track durations are not specified on the covers and are detected by EAC program. Santana is a Latin music and rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1966 by Mexican-American guitarist Carlos Santana. The band came to public attention with their performance of Soul Sacrifice at Woodstock in 1969. This exposure helped propel their first album, also named Santana, into a hit, followed in the next two years by Abraxas and Santana III. Lineup changes were common. Carlos Santana's increasing involvement with guru Sri Chinmoy took the band into more esoteric music, though it never lost its Latin influence. In 1998, the band Santana was induct read more. Guitar Heaven, is the name of the upcoming solo album by Carlos Santana to be released on September , expert guitar playing cannot carry an album. Moreover, it is too sterile and obsessively arranged, and the majority of the vocals lack that rock fierceness. Everyone is playing it too safe, with the production geared towards something mainstream and pop-oriented rather than experimentation and reinterpretation. This album takes the same formula ofI love Santana, and nobody will ever be able to convince me that Supernatural was anything but amazing. This album takes the same formula of collaborating with many different artists in an attempt to keep the album diverse, and applies it to covering the best guitar songs of rock history. Santana's guitar playing is excellent, as always, and I loved it from the first listen, but some of the guest vocalists didn't do much for me. I've grown to like some of the vocals more after a number of listens, but for me most of the vocals still get in the way of what it was I bought the CD for, the guitar riffs, and they don't add that much to the song, like other guest vocalists have in previous Santana albums. If these songs are truly The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time a debatable proposition then improving on them would make this literally the greatest guitar album of all time. This is an unfair burden for the guitarist to bear. So, what worked, what didn't and why
