I hope the actual album will clear this feeling more. Secret EP is an EP by the American indie rock band Sebadoh, released on July 23, 2012. The EP was not released on a label and was made available for digital download on the online music store Bandcamp. The EP was recorded from March to July 2012 at Indietopia in Glendale, California. Secret EP is Sebadoh's first new material in fourteen years since the band's previous album The Sebadoh 1999. Preceding the full-length album is the five-song Secret EP, offering a few scraps and remnants from the home-recorded sessions that resulted in the album. Kicking off with the floor-tom driven Keep the Boy Alive, the short companion piece sounds shockingly similar to the moody, shut-in indie rock tones of '90s Sebadoh. The country-flavored I Don't Mind stands out as a slightly different style for the group, with the nasal vocals taking on cowboy crooning, and ironically sounding a little like Barlow's one-time nemesis J. And perhaps it's the ubiquity of this kind of music these days, but the tracks manage to simultaneously sound like throwbacks and totally fresh. There are well matched layers of guitar, bass, and percussion, each heard distinctly through a songs progression. Sebadoh is coming out with a full-length release in 2013 - none of the EP tracks will be included, so expect a whole new swath of material.
