Wake Up is the tenth and to date last album by American R&B group Shalamar, released in 1990 on the SOLAR label. It is the second Shalamar album to feature the line-up of Delisa Davis, Micki Free and Sydney Justin. In an attempt to keep Shalamar relevant to a contemporary market, the album was heavily influenced by the then-dominant new jack swing style, but the end result was generally considered, at the least, disappointing. New jack swing was quite the rage in 1990, and Solar obviously reasoned that Shalamar should cater to that market. But sadly, the results are robotic and completely forgettable on such knee-jerk, automatic-pilot cuts as Groove Talk, Caution: This Love Is Hot and the title song.
