When Shelly Manne recorded the music 'My Fair Lady' for Capitol Records in 1964, the pianist was Russ Freeman, who died on 27 June 2002, aged 76. Freeman was best known for his pivotal supporting role in the early work of mercurial trumpeter Chet Baker - and also had a long association with the drummer Shelly Manne.
