Notes
A New Musical Revue featuring the puppets of Sid And Marty Krofft and celebrity voices, first performed at The Krofft Theater in California's San Fernando Valley in October 1961. The Kroffts quickly launched a touring company that performed various editions of Les Poupées De Paris throughout the 1960s. This Grammy-nominated album captures the 1964 edition of the show, which had 30 performances a week during its six-month run at the 1964 New York World's Fair (April 22 - October 18, 1964).
Note: Track A4 notes the performers as Bing Crosby and Friends. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin appear on track with Bing, but are not otherwise credited on album.

Poupée is French for doll or puppet. Predating the psychedelic weirdness of Land of the Lost and Lidsville by a decade, Les Poupées de Paris was an over-the-top puppet show that has tons of talent but notable flaws too. I knew very little about this album beforehand other than remembering it was a puppet show at the '64'65 New York World's sound is great. I figured it was worth taking a chance on ordering it due to the accomplished composing team and the interesting selection of recording artists. I was really glad I did. A happy-go-lucky dragon with a yellow head who talks with a magic flute. Diminutive sea monsters frolicking with a pair of young boys. A world where lifesize hats run things.
