Sir Georg Solti rendition of Liszts powerful symphonic poem Prometheus is by far the best available. Despite the tinny nature of the recording, which is enhanced greatly when played back with a good equalizer, Solti captured the raw essence of Prometheus being tied to a rocky crag and being attacked by an eagle daily as punishment for giving mankind the gift of fire. Other renditions, including those by Haitink or Masur, pale in comparison.
