Sivamani - 'Mahaleela' album. World Music. Finally, after years of supporting some of the finest musical exports from India, Sivamani has stitched together his first solo album, Mahaleela. The initial expectations running through the minds of the listeners approaching the album would be an extremely pompous album by the percussionist Sivamani. Instead the album is not created from the mind of a percussionist per se but from a well-rounded composer. As a matter of fact, on some of the early tracks on the album such as Dancing On The Moon and Kriya , Sivas playing is entirely non-intrusive and merely helps the song along its path. Sivamani 1 December 1959, commonly known by his stage name Drums Sivamani, is an Indian percussionist. He plays many instruments including drums, octoban, darbuka, udukai, ghatam and kanjira. He performed drumming during the IPL Championships in 2008 and 2010. He is affiliated with the Chennai Super Kings team, but gained recognition through his role as A. Rahman's lead are close friends from childhood. In 2019, he was conferred with Padma Shri.
