It was originally released on May 11, 1990, through Sub Pop Records. Sub Pop later remastered and re-issued the album on November 24, 2013. The album combines the band's first two studio EPs: Screaming Life 1987 and Fopp 1988. It was released in 1990 by Sub Pop despite having been recorded in 1987-88, after Soundgarden's two subsequent full-length. The Screaming Life EP was the first ever Soundgarden release back in 1987, and Fopp was the follow-up in 88. This album was also after they changed Chris Cornell from drummer to lead vocalist, Screaming Life was the first release other than Deep Six to have Chris as frontman. Screaming LifeFopp Q&A. When Soundgarden released Screaming Life, their 1987 debut EP, grunge was not a thing. Screaming Life is proof. Along with its 1988 follow-up, the Fopp EP, its being reissued by Sub Pop-only this time with a needed Jack Endino remastering job and one bonus track, the jokey throwaway jam Sub Pop Rock City , drawn from 1988s Sub Pop 200 compilation.
