The St. Catharines Youth Orchestra - which began rehearsing in 1965 - is a group of award winning young players who have been consistently tops in music festivals everywhere for several seasons . The players range in age from 12 to 18 years. Some live in neighbouring communities.
In 1968-69 the orchestra appeared on television in the series called "Music In Your Life", with Lloyd Bradshaw, presented by the Ontario Department of Education.
In their weekly practise sessions, the Youth Orchestra has acquired a repertoire ranging from the classic era to contemporary music.
