Album
Crystal Ball is the sixth album by Styx, released in 1976. This album marked the recording debut of new guitarist Tommy Shaw. The track Mademoiselle was Tommy Shaw's vocal debut and the album's Top-40 hit. The album's title track would become a concert staple for the band, as it was performed on every subsequent Styx tour with which Shaw was involved. Claude Debussy's classical piece Clair de Lune served as the intro to the album's closing track, Ballerina. The version of Clair de Lune on. Styxs sixth 1976 studio album was a crucial turning point for the band on two counts: Commercially despite the previous albums higher sales and bigger Top 40 hit, and. Shaw was the linchpin to the breadth of Styxs success. The follow-up to Crystal Ball , the lucky . Shooz was co-written by Shaw and James J. Your Rating. Crystal Ball wasn't as successful as Equinox, but it was a better album, showcasing Styx's increased skill for crafting simple, catchy pop hooks out of their bombastic sound. Track Listing. Crystal Ball would be the first Styx album without the original lineup. John Curluiski would leave the band prior to the album's recording to be replace by guitarist, vocalist, songwriter Tommy Shaw. For many Styx fans this is considered the classic lineup for the band and would be the group that would have by far the most commercial success. Styx's 'Crystal Ball' had a tough act to follow in 'Equinox,' but this 1976 release effortlessly complements its predecessor. With Tommy Shaw on board, the band still had three good songwriters. Though a hard rock band, Dennis DeYoung's influence adds shades of prog, notably on the opening bars of the title track. Styx-Crystal Ball компакт-диск, новый. Состояние товара: Совершенно новый. Styx's first really great album. I already had Crystal Ball on LP, but have been re-collecting my LPs into a CD collection. This is the first Styx album to feature Tommy Shaw. Styx was a decent group before Shaw. I only have one other Styx album prior to Shaw's entrance to the band, and that's Equinox. Equinox has several good tracks Light Up, Lorelei and Suite Madam Blue. But they don't compare to the improvement made simply by trading out guitaristvocalist John Cerwlewski I may have spelled that last name wrong with Tom.
