Do you Know who you are - 1996 TRACKLIST: 01. Johnny on the Spot 02. The Magic Bullet Theory 03. Nickel Wound 04. There's No Way I Can Talk Myself Out You Know Who You Are is the first and only studio album by American emopost-hardcore band Texas Is the Reason, released on April 30, 1996 by Revelation Records. The title of the record comes from what are alleged to be the last words John Lennon ever heard. The album garnered attention from major labels upon release, with the band coming close to signing a contract with Capitol Records however, the deal fell through following the band's breakup in 1997. It has retrospectively been considered to. Texas Is the Reason was an American emopost-hardcore band founded by former Shelter guitarist Norman Brannon and 108 drummer Chris Daly in 1994. They disbanded in 1997, and held brief reunions in 2006 and 20122013. Norman Brannon guitar, guitarist for the hardcore Hare Krishna band Shelter, formed Texas Is the Reason with friend and then fellow Hare Krishna devotee Chris Daly drums, formerly of the band 108, which played music of a similar kind to Shelter's, some time in the early 1990s in New. Texas Is The Reason - Back And To The Left. Commonly referred to as one of the standards for the emocore movement of the '90s, Texas Is the Reason's Do You Know Who You Are - which was the last thing said to John Lennon before he died - is the bedrock to this New York City four-piece's short-lived career. Produced by the very talented J. Robbins, the vocal style of singer Garrett Klahn sounds something akin to Richard Marx doing indie rock. Do You Know Who You Are was Texas Is the Reason's only full length album. Produced by Jawbox's and released on Revelation Records, Do You Know Who You Are brought a lot of major-label courtship to Texas Is the Reason, who were being hailed as the next big thing in the growing punk explosion on MTV. Texas is the Reason's debut-and only-was released in 1996, to relatively no attention at all, and Texas is the Reason broke up in 1997, a brief but tumultuous year after their debut, which is either a blessing or a tragedy. Did they break up before they created their own London Calling Or did their brief period of greatness shine too brightly to last. Despite being completely influential to the current emo scene, Do You Know Who You Are-famously named after the last words John Lennon apparently said-is nothing like these bands' albums. Do You Know Who You Are is both melodious and heavy fast and slow, angsty while managing to be positive at the same time. Texas is the Reason. Released April 30, 1996.
