Versatile Hi-Fis Two of the original 5th Dimension members Lamonte McLemore and Marilyn McCoo played in a band called the Hi-Fis in the early 1960s. After reforming the band with several new members Florence LaRue, Billy Davis, Jr. and Ron Townson, they changed the groups name to the Versatiles in early 1966, but was quickly changed to the 5th Dimension as a suggestion by Townson later on that year.
