Documenting The Beatles Hollywood Bowl concerts on tape was no easy feat, as producer Sir George Martin explained in his album notes for 1977s The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl: The chaos, I might almost say panic, that reigned at these concerts was unbelievable unless you were there. Only three track recording was possible The Beatles had no fold back speakers, so they could not hear what they were singing, and the eternal shriek from 17,000 healthy, young lungs made even a jet plane inaudible. The Beatles only official live album was recorded over three nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, in 1964 and 1965. George Martin had originally wanted to record The Beatles concerts at New Yorks Carnegie Hall on 12 February 1964, during their first US visit. Although Capitol Records agreed, he was denied permission by the American Federation of Musicians. During their first full American tour Capitol agreed to record the groups concert at the Hollywood Bowl on 23 August 1964. This 2016 The Beatles Live At The Hollywood Bowl Remaster is a 5 Star album all the way and I'll tell you why. I have the original pressing of the 1977 Vinyl LP and the late George Martin, who was the Best at his craft according to many musicians that he worked with, did his best with 1964 and 1965 source material using 1977 technology. This is an expanded version of the now-deleted Live At The Hollywood Bowl album, which was much-derided at the time as the crowd's screaming had been mixed too high on the record, some thought. The Beatles onstage never came close to the Beatles in the studio. When they finally quit touring for good in 1966 because, among other reasons, all those screams and shrieks made it impossible for them to even hear their own voices and instruments, they became a better and more significant band because they could finally give all their time to creating their masterworks. Still, through it all, the excitement of Beatlemania rings throughout Live at the Hollywood Bowl 's 45 minutes
