Some would consider this a different band from The Cars, but added this disc to their discography out of convenience more than anything. Band has original members Elliot Easton and Greg Hawkes who were much responsible for the sound of the cars since they played guitar and keys respectively, although Ric Ocasek pretty much wrote everything.

It's Alive is the only album released by The New Cars. The album features fifteen live tracks, twelve of which are songs known as being performed by the original Cars. The remaining two, I Saw the Light and Open My Eyes, were popularized by New Cars member Todd Rundgren Open My Eyes was originally performed by Rundgren's original group, Nazz. The album ends with three new studio tracks, recorded especially for this release. All songs written by Ric Ocasek, except where noted. The New Cars. It's Alive. a nifty little album if they choose to follow up their 2006 tour with a real record. Until then, It's Alive functions as a good appetizer for the tour: it's not earth-shaking, but it's far better than nearly any other reunion of this kind, and at the very least it suggests that if you lay your money down for a night out with the New Cars, you're guaranteed a good time.
