Ogerman charted under his own name in 1965. The RCA single Watusi Trumpets reached 130 in the Music Vendor charts. Ogerman arranged and conducted Diana Krall's 2001 album The Look of Love, and conducted on her DVD Live in Paris. He also served as arranger and conductor for Krall's 2009 album Quiet Nights. Ogerman won the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for Quiet Nights. He arranged and conducted the orchestra on George Benson's 1976 album, Breezin', as well as on two other Benson albums. The Joker begins with exotic percussion, builds with a haunting flute, and then becomes a showcase for Hyman's Lowrey. Featuring the old standard Poinciana, the rock classic Land of a Thousand Dances, not to mention three tunes with watusi in the title, this mod album is as essential as any. Track Listing. I was a little disappointed with this album. Claus Ogerman was a jazz arranger and had his own orchestra during the 60's. So I thought it might be better than it was.
