Riders on the Storm is a song by American rock band the Doors. It was released as the second single from their sixth studio album and last with singer Jim Morrison, L. Woman, in June 1971. It reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U. number 22 on the UK Singles Chart and number seven in the Netherlands. Riders on the Storm is a psychedelic rock song. According to guitarist Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek, it was inspired by the country song Ghost Riders in the Sky: A. Follow The Doors and others on SoundCloud. Coleman's arrangements bring new depth to the music at times the results bear little in common with the originals such as Riders on the Storm and People Are Strange nonetheless, they're fascinating musical excursions best approached with an open mind. Riders on the Storm is a song by The Doors from their 1971 album, L. Woman it reached number 14 on the charts. According to band member Robby Krieger, it was inspired by the song, Ghost Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend. The song is played in the E Dorian mode, and incorporates real sound effects of thunder and rain, along with Ray Manzarek's Fender Rhodes electric piano playing, which emulates the sound of rain. The song was recorded at the Doors Workshop in December 1970 with the assistance of Bruce Botnick, their longtime engineer, who was co-producing the recording sessions. The Doors brought in bass players Marc Benno and Jerry Scheff to play on the album. Scheff came up with the distinctive bass line after Manzarek played him what he had in mind on his keyboard. It took a while to figure out, since it was much harder to play on a bass than a keyboard. Ray Manzarek used a Fender Rhodes electric piano to create the effect of rain. This was the last song on the last Doors album with Morrison.
