The group formed in 1963 with members Tony Washington lead, George Spann 1st tenor, George Peterback, Jr. 2nd tenor, Michael McCalpin baritone, and Maurice Washington bass. The Dynamic Superiors is the debut album for The Dynamic Superiors on Motown Records. Released in 1975, it contains the hits Shoe Shoe Shine and Leave It Alone. After a 35-year wait, in 2010, this album was finally released on CD in a 2-for-1 set with The Superiors' second Motown album, Pure Pleasure, not by Motown, but by Universal's Soul imprint. No doubt the late Sylvester, who surfaced later, copied lead singer Tony Washington's phrasings. Shoe Shoe Shine is one of the best AshfordSimpson songs it also turned out to be the D. natives' most popular record, with the exciting Leave It Alone a close second. A second lead with a good tenor provided a good foil for Washington's cloud-high vocals on most selections. A must for vocal-group fanatics
