These two CDs commemorate the eightieth birthday of the premiere virtuoso of bluegrass music, Earl Scruggs, a man who plays so well that it boggles the mind. A virtue of the album, from my perspective, is that it includes cuts from all the principal groups with whom Earl has been associated, from his days with Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys that's where he met Lester Flatt, the glorious Flatt and Scruggs days, two songs recorded in a rare outing with Hylo Brown and the Timberliners
