The story of the famous song as told by Tim Buckley's lyricist and friend, Larry Beckett who wrote the words, woven into a musical performance by Beckett's. Song to the Siren is a song written by Tim Buckley and his writing partner Larry Beckett and was released by Buckley on his 1970 album Starsailor. It was also later released on Morning Glory: The Tim Buckley Anthology, the album featuring a performance of the song taken from the final episode of The Monkees TV show which aired on March 25, 1968. Pat Boone was the first to release a version of the song when it was featured on his 1969 album Departure, predating Buckley's Starsailor release. Song To The Siren was written by Tim Buckley and Larry Beckett in 1967 and Tim first performed it on The Monkees show in 1968. He later included the song on his ground-breaking album Starsailor in 1970. The song has been covered many times since then by a catalogue of stars including Robert Plant, Bryan Ferry, Sinead OConnor, Elizabeth Fraser, and George Michael, to name just a few. Now in 2016, a new and very unique version has been made with Larry Beckett himself present on the recording, telling in spoken word, the moving story of how the song came to be composed.
