Isnt life strange A turn of the page Can read like before Can we ask for more. Isnt love strange A word we arrange With no thought or care Maker of despair Each breath that we breathe With love we must weave To make us. Isn't Life Strange is a 1972 single by the English progressive rock band the Moody Blues, which was based on Pachelbel's Canon In D. Written by bassist John Lodge, it was the first of two singles released from their 1972 album Seventh Sojourn, with the other being I'm Just a Singer In a Rock and Roll Band also written by Lodge. Until recent weeks, I never knew this lovely mellotron solo existed, as it was cut from the album track on Seventh Sojourn in 1972. My single-manual 'tron hasn't the scope of Mike Pinder's dual-manual Mark II, but here's my attempt at it. I've used the classic 3-violins with a touch of bass clarinet. Seems a little quiet over here. A lot of people will laugh at the idea of a new Moody Blues album, eight years after their last new release and 35 years after the original band started in the business. The fact is, though, that this is about the liveliest and leanest that the group has sounded in more than 20 years. Among this collection of 14 songs, ten have very pleasing melodies, unpretentious lyrics, and generally attractive performances. That puts Strange Times several steps above the last few of the group's albums. Isn't Life Strange. This song is by The Moody Blues and appears on the album Seventh Sojourn 1972. This song contains a sample from Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel. The Moody Blues are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964, initially consisting of keyboardist Mike Pinder, multi-instrumentalist Ray Thomas, guitarist Denny Laine, drummer Graeme Edge, and bassist Clint Warwick. They first came to prominence playing rhythm and blues music. After some early lineup changes, the band settled on a line-up of Pinder, Thomas, Edge, guitarist Justin Hayward and bassist John Lodge, which would stay together for most of the band's classic era through the late 1960s-early 1970s. Isn't Life Strange, which hit the Hot 100 for the Moody Blues on 22 April 1972, was one of John Lodge's finest hours as a songwriter. A preview of the seventh album in a stunningly creative run of releases by the Moody Blues made its Billboard Hot 100 debut on 22 April 1972. Isnt Life Strange was, and remains, a majestic highlight in their catalogue, and one of the finest hours as a songwriter for co-frontman John Lodge. The recording was a measure of what could be achieved within the supposed confines of the 45rpm pop single of those days. It began with a beguiling, semi-classical prelude featuring the trademark flute of Ray Thomas and the harmonium of Mike Pinder
