The Muppet Show is the first soundtrack album released from the TV show of the same name. It reached number one in the UK Albums Chart in the week ending 25 June 1977. In 1979, The album won The Grammy Award for Best Album for Children. The album includes selected songs from Season 1 of the Muppet Show as well as comedy sketches and various unlisted short skits, including interjections by Muppet characters Statler and Waldorf. The Muppet Show album features songs from the first season of the show. It also contains backstage moments with Kermit, Miss Piggy and Fozzie, as well as heckling by Statler and Waldorf, all recorded especially for this album. Some of the songs are actual soundtracks from the show, while others were re-recorded for the album. The album reached 153 on Billboard's Top LPs and Tapes chart, and also won a Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children. I purchased this album because my record player was broken and I couldnt play my original vinyl Muppet Show album from the 70s. This was an acceptable substitute, but was still missing my favorites such as The Great Gonzo Eats a Rubber Tire to The Flight of the Bumble Bee and Cottleston Pie Fortunately, Mahna Mahna was included as that has to be my all time favorite.
