Album

At the Golden Circle Stockholm is a two-volume album by the Ornette Coleman Trio, documenting concerts on the nights of December 3 and 4, 1965, in the Gyllene Cirkeln club in Stockholm. It was released in early 1966, and marked the beginning of Coleman's contract with Blue Note. The music has been described as brilliant, optimistic closely unified thematic improvisations. Snowflakes and Sunshine marked the introduction of his unconventional violin and trumpet playing. In Coleman's hands, both. At The Golden Circle Vol. 2 - Ornette Coleman Trio. The second night of Ornette Coleman's two-week stand in Sweden was even fierier than the first, if the recorded documents are to be believed. For starters, December 4 was the night that Coleman brought out the violin and the trumpet on the first tune Snowflakes and Sunshine must have taken club-goers by surprise. from the album 'THE ORNETTE COLEMAN TRIO AT THE GOLDEN CIRCLE STOCKHOLM, VOLUME. 1:06: Ornette Coleman Trio At The Golden Circle Stockholm - Volume Two. ジャンル: Jazz. Recorded in two nights at the Golden Circle in Stockholm, Swedan Coleman and his trio which included 2 now long departed musicians, David Izenson on bass and Charles Moffet on drums, mesmerized audiences every night with their music. I was long turned off to Ornette even with his early Atlantic recordings since I thought he was out of tune but when I heard the first track, Faces & Places, I was hooked and started to re-examine those early recordings. On At the Golden Circle, Volume One, Ornette and Co. are in topdrawer form. Writing in the liner notes of the 2002 Blue Note RVG CD reissue of the album, John Litweiler, author of the book Ornette Coleman: A Harmolodic Life, calls the album extraordinary, adding that the sheer creativity of Ornette Colemans improvising here would be miraculous at any time in jazz history moreover, even by his own high standards, he made some of the. finest music of his recording career at the Golden Circle. Comprising four Coleman originals, Volume One opens with the emcee introducing the trio and Ornett.
