Lost in Alphaville is the third full-length studio album by The Rentals, released on August 25, 2014, through Polyvinyl Records. The album is available on CD, vinyl, cassette and as a digital download. It marks the band's first full-length album since their 1999 release Seven More Minutes and their first-ever release through Polyvinyl, with whom they signed in December 2013. Fifteen years after the last official Rentals album, the 2014 album Lost in Alphaville is entering a marketplace where many potential fans were too young to notice when Matt Sharps old band Weezer were showing up regularly on MTV. This official third album is based on 10 songs that were cherrypicked from Sharps ambitious 2009 box set Songs About Time which featured photos, films, and music and then rerecorded with Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, Ozma guitarist Ryen Slegr, and vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig from the band Lucius, along with contributions from longtime foil Lauren.
