I See You is the third studio album by English indie pop band the xx. It was released on 13 January 2017 by the Young Turks record label. It is the band's first release in more than four years, following their 2012 album Coexist. The xx began recording I See You in 2014 at Marfa Recording Co. in Marfa, Texas, and were assisted by producer Rodaidh McDonald. According to the band, they had a more progressive, wide-ranging musical concept in mind, compared to their previous two albums. Jamie xx, the band. I See You - The xx. The intimate spaces and beautifully tessellated arrangements endure, but, perhaps owing to drummerproducer Jamie xxs solo flowering, I See You is expansive and bright. The samples employed on Say Something Loving Alessi Brothers and On Hold Hall & Oates, for example, add a new and joyous dimension to Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sims vocals. The xx's latest album is 'I See You. For a band that often gets described as minimal, the xx pack a massive amount of drama and emotion into their subtle music. On the first two xx albums, 2009s xx and 2012s Coexist, every bit of music be it a ripple of reverb-heavy guitar or a dubby bass line or a distant drum hit seemed organized for maximum less-is-more impact. Jamie xx, who also moonlights as one of the best dance-music artists in the world see the laid-back, highbrow house tracks on his 2015 solo LP In Colour. I See You, the third album by the xx, attempts to incorporate everyones talents into a new version of their sound, one true to their roots but richer and more varied. Coexist from 2012 was a decent re-statement of the debuts animating ideas, but the prevailing story of the xx in the years since that debut has been the rise of Jamie xx. The most exciting music coming out of their camp-from one-off singles like Far Nearer and All Under One Roof Raving to his 2015 breakthrough In Colour-belonged to him. The xx - I See You 2017. On Hold functions as a fitting introduction to The xxs brave new world on I See You. Though not quite a dance track, it flickers and grooves more than their past work, gently guiding their sound from a quiet bedroom into a more expansive space
