Greetings from L. is the seventh album by singer-songwriter Tim Buckley, released in 1972. It was recorded at Far Out Studios in Hollywood, California. Like most of his other albums, Greetings from L. did not sell well, this is probably his best seller seeing at least 2 different US pressings, the first with removable postcarddark green label, the second had no perforations for the postcardon the palm tree style WB label, getting substantial airplay in the Twin Cities on the Minneapolis FM. All tracks by Tim Buckley, except where noted. Album 1972 7 Songs. he transforms into a rough-and-tumble barroom rocker. With a traditional rock band behind him, along with a bevy of backup singers, Buckley turns tough on Move With Me , Get On Top and Nighthawkin. He sings, screams, and seduces in a blues-rock performance worthy of Jim Morrison himself. It's Buckleys most accessible and straightforward album, and one of his absolute best. Released October 1972. While no doubt there were commercial pressures at play, given Buckley's constant change from album to album it seems like he simply found something else to try, which he did with gusto. Get On Top, one of his best numbers, certainly doesn't sound like something aimed for the charts. The music may have a solid groove to it Kevin Kelly's organ is worth a mention, but Buckley's frank lyrics and improv scatting both show it as him following his own muse. Track Listing.
