The CD contains 8 completely new tracks specially made for Olympic Opening Ceremony Athens 2004 and 4 well known tracks.
"Ancient History" is a free interpretation of "Zanaradikos" by Thrace.
"Traffic" contains a sample from "Psykofuk" by Sean Deason.
"Athena" is an interpretation of Albonini's "Adagio in G Minor".

Parade of the Athletes is a retrospective mix by Dutch DJ Tiësto of his live set performed during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece on 13 August 2004 see 2004 in music. This was the first time that a DJ was asked to perform for a ceremony at the Olympics. Recognizing one of their own, the Dutch team came up to the booth while Tiësto was performing this set. All of the songs on this track are original songs composed by Tiësto except for Adagio for Strings. Parade of the Athletes is the soundtrack, not the whole soundtrack, but a collection so well put together you'd think the music was always supposed to flow like this. Tiësto calls on the sounds of the old, electronic greats more than ever before. The influences of Jean Michel Jarre, Giorgio Moroder, and Tangerine Dream at their most dramatic are obvious. Tiësto adds his own unique style of tension building and grandeur, but he doesn't play it safe. Parade of the Athletes. The production quality on some tracks leaves a little to be desired, but overall the album is quite enjoyable. Key tracks on this album are Traffic modeled off of Sean Deason's Psykofuk, Athena, and of course, the unforgettable anthem Forever Today. It's a real shame he doesn't make stuff like this anymore.
