MacKay had first met Tommy in October 1975 at Trident Studios in London during work done there to complete Tommys Teaser album. At that time MacKay had. MacKay stayed in touch with Tommy while he was in Deep Purple and before Tommy entered the studio to work on Private Eyes he contacted MacKay, summoning him to Los Angeles to stay at Tommys place so they could choose material and do pre-production. Tommy played most of the songs and ideas he had together for MacKay right in his living room in the course of one evening using an acoustic guitar. Tommy Bolin - Private Eyes 1976. Private Eyes. After the breakup of Deep Purple in 1976, guitarist Tommy Bolin wasted little time beginning work on his second solo album, Private Eyes. While it was more of a conventional rock album than its predecessor, Teaser which served primarily as a showcase for his guitar skills and contained several jazzrock instrumentals, it was not as potent. The performances aren't as inspired as those on Teaser or even those on Bolin's lone album with Deep Purple, Come Taste the Band, although there a few highlights could be found. Album 1976 8 Songs. American-born guitarist with a swedish father and a mother of syrian descent. Tommy Bolin began playing in bands around Sioux City as a youth before moving to Boulder Colorado in his late teens. He had played in a band called American Standard before joining Ethereal Zephyr, a band named after a train that ran between Denver and Chicago. Amazing album by the late-great Tommy Bolin who, not replaced both Joe Walsh and Ritchie Blackmore successfully no small feat, but also reinvented himself as a guitarist who was comfortable with almost any genre. All the tracks are stellar, from the flamenco-tinged Gypsy Soul to the progressively horn-heavy Shake The Devil. Private Eyes, 1989. Bustin' Out for Rosey, 04:20.
