Meanderthal is the second full length studio album by the Miami, Florida band Torche. Hydra Head. After establishing themselves as fine purveyors of metallic sludge over the course of an album and an EP, Torche's second full-length, Meanderthal, refines their penchant for volume and proves that there's more in their bag of tricks than Melvins-like metal. The record kicks off at a breakneck pace with a half-dozen tar-thick tracks. The fleet-fingered math of Triumph of Venus gives way to the triumphant bombast of Grenades, a track that's barely finished before Pirhaña's stopstart stomp kicks into gear. Advanced search. Type: Full-length. Release date: April 8th, 2008. Catalog ID: HH666-152. On their second full-length album, Meanderthal, Torche stay true to their trademark sound, but take their songwriting to a new level. All the heaviness that's expected from the band is here. The guitars, droning and impossibly low, cover everything with a thick sonic blanket of major-key riffs. Torche - Meanderthal review: Torche return with 13 tracks of sun-drenched stoner-pop mayhem. That said, Meanderthal has enough twists and turns to keep you on your feet throughout, upping the tempo considerably, with tracks like Speed of the Nail and personal favourite Healer coming on like prime mid-90s EpiFat skatepunk. Conversely, the band slow to a snail's pace, and largely dispense with the pop sensibilities for the admittedly slightly over-long Amnesian. Альбом 2011 Песен: 13. Band Name Torche. Album Name Meanderthal. Type Album. Released date 08 April 2008. Labels Hydra Head Records. Produced by Kurt Ballou. Music StyleStoner. Meanderthal is the perfect representation of this idea, with tiny epic Little Champion lasting only an essential 35 seconds before the next track comes in. The lively Healer and simple thunder of Across the Shields are particular highlights of an album that continually impresses in scope and simplicity, and the 6 minute Mastodon aping Amnesian is an essential entry into the stonersludgedoom canon. But ultimately it is the low end rumbling thunder of the title track that swings it for me
