Turn Back the Hands of Time is a song recorded by American R&B singer Tyrone Davis. The song was co-written by Jack Daniels and Bonnie Thompson and produced by Willie Henderson. Daniels and Thompson wrote Turn Back the Hands of Time based on the relationship problems that Daniels was having at the time. Daniels had co-written Davis's 1968 hit Can I Change My Mind and the recording session for Turn Back the Hands of Time included some of the same musicians from Can I Change My Mind. Tyrone Davis Born May 4, 1938 - Died February 9, 2005 was a soul singer. He was born in a rural community around 20 miles outside of Greenville Mississippi in 1938 to John and Falker Davis, spent most of his formative years in Saginaw, MI, and moved to Chicago in 1959. He made many great soul records for the Dakar and Columbia labels from the 1970s, right through the disco and funk booms and into the 21st century. Davis' best-known hits were Turn Back the Hands of Time and Can I Change My Mind. If the only great song on Tyrone Davis' second album, Turn Back the Hands of Time, was its impeccable title track, it still would have been a noteworthy record in the history of uptown Chicago soul and early-'70s soul - it's simply that good of a song. Fortunately, it's the tip of the iceberg on this terrific album that ranks among the finest soul records of its era.
