Album

War is the third studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was produced by Steve Lillywhite, and was released on 28 February 1983 on Island Records. The album is regarded as U2's first overtly political album, in part because of songs like Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year's Day, as well as the title, which stems from the band's perception of the world at the time lead vocalist Bono stated that war seemed to be the motif for 1982. U2 - War 1983. Boy Album Review - Продолжительность: 16:02 Mr. War - A U2 Documentary - Продолжительность: 24:04 I Love U2 59 715. Язык: Русский. Страна: США. On gentle album closer 40 he returns to a refrain from Sunday Bloody Sunday, saying I will sing, sing a new song How long to sing this song, regretting the need to sing about the world's ills. The U2 we've known ever since had arrived on War, and even today it sounds vital. As much as cynical critics and listeners often swipe at U2 for their earnestness, it's still refreshing to hear a band that cares so much, wants to be heard by so many, and isn't afraid to show it. As if to hammer home the point, the reissues each include contact info. U2 has even used one of his pictures for a t-shirt and a poster. Rowen, who says he rarely gets recognized, was chosen to be the cover subject because he grew up near Bono in Ireland. Bono lived across the road and was friends with my brother, he tells Yahoo. I don't know why they thought of me. He was 5 when he shot the cover of Boy and 8 when he sat for War. Who is the mysterious boy that appears on the Irish bands debut album And why does he keep appearing in the U2s story. The Boy was back to appear on the cover of War - in the same pose, staring into the camera, but this time he was older, his lip is cut and he appears to be stood in front of a brick wall. His stare is no longer innocent - hes almost accusing the onlooker, like he's being put against the wall as a prisoner. War also reached No. 23 on the Top Pop Catalog album chart and became U2's first Gold album in the US, eventually being certified multi-platinum by the RIAA with 4 million units sold. It also earned a Gold record in Switzerland and Silver record in the UK. In the Hot Press Reader's Poll, it was voted No. 1 best album and best LP sleeve. UK magazine New Musical Express voted both the album and sleeve as No. 3 in its annual poll. And in the New Zealand Rip It Up Poll, War was voted the No. 1 album. Released Date: 28 February, 1983. Of course, that's the charm of Boy: all of its emotions are on the surface, delivered with optimistic, youthful self-belief, yet the unusual, distinctive guitar textures give it an unexpected tension that makes it an exhilarating debut. The songs may occasionally show some weakness - the driving I Will Follow, the dark An Cat Dubh, and the shimmering The Ocean stand out among the sonic textures - yet the band's musical and lyrical vision keep Boy compelling until the finish. Track Listing. With their third album War in early 1983, U2 fully arrived on the international music scene and has remained on the top echelon ever since. A commercial success for the band, the album topped the U. charts and reached 12 in the U. Further, it found the band forging their definitive sound for the first time under the guidance of producer Steve Lillywhite, who introduced the band some new recording techniques. Among these was the incorporation of a click track to keep perfect time, an idea that drummer Larry Mullen, Jr. was initially against. However, he did relent and the album ended up
